Question
I have HIP insurance with the National Writers Union. Although my doctor writes two prescriptions for maintenance medications for 90 days with 3 refills. MEDCO either cancels the medications, sends the wrong amount, or claims no refills. I have spent up to six hours on the telephone with MEDCO and not been able to resolve the problem. I have contacted HIP also and the problem continues. I can't get MEDCO and HIP to coordinate on what is a simple matter.
I can't seem to get either of them to pay attention to this matter. I would like to contact someone who could straighten this out, but who? Requests for a supervisor are answered "they are in a meeting." There is no such thing as a call back.
Can you give me some suggestions ?
Thank you very much.
Answer
I would contact your HR department and speak to the person in charge of your plan administration. Your co is paying for you to have Medical insurance, very much like anything else, if you're paying for something you're not getting you should be complaining.
They can call and state that their members are not getting the services as agreed. Sometimes having the person paying for the policy call has great weight, they know this is the person making the decision for next year's re-enrollment and if HIP is not up to par, then they may be out of the running.
Good luck.
