medicaid share of cost

Question
Hello, I am on permanent disability and receive child support and have medicaid share of cost which amount is $971.00.  I have no assets either unfortunately because of my disabilities...I have additional medical problems that I need to see oncologist/gastrointerologist and taking tests...I cannot afford these my question is do I have to pay the $971.00 each month (providing I continue needing tests/doctor visits, etc) or does that mean if my medical expenses are over that amount that medicaid pays the full amount?  My doctors just keep taking tests and not asking about my financial ability to pay, they dont understand how concerned I am as I have nothing and the money that I do get is paying for necessary living expenses.  Please help with my question and thank you.

Answer
Medicaid share of cost means that you must pay that amount each month before Medicaid will pay a penny (or dime) Sad isn't it. I would see if you can get this lowered by submitting your living expenses etc and see what they can do for you. Sorry to have to give you this information. So the medical claims that your drs submit will be denied by Medicaid and your dr will bill you.
