Question
I just recently moved to Florida from New York,
I have New York Medicaid, How to I go about transferring
my medicaid? I have rods in my back that need to come
out, and my surgeon in FL who did my surgery doesn't
take out of state medicaid.
Answer
Hi Terry
Each State has it's own rules and regulations regarding Medicaid, and they are not compatible with the other State regulations. They have their own funding. Therefore you can not transfer your Medicaid from one state to another.
When you move to a new State, you have to apply for Medicaid in that State, and the State you left drops your coverage. Usually the Medicaid case workers have to complete your Medicaid processing within 45 days. But it can be backdated for up to three months. Check it out when you get to Fl.
