My grandma had HIP in new york as her hmo. She has now moved to north carolina to live. How does she go about changing her hmo to something that is accepted her in north carolina?

You cannot transfer an HMO to an area outside the plan's service area She will have to get a new plan in NC, Call the SHIP office nearest her at 1-800-443-9354 and request to speak with a counselor. They are Medicare trained, and will go on the computer and give her a choice of the best options fitting her situation.
