Medicaid Denial

Question
Ok so this is my situation...

8 months ago, My girlfriend (Kaitlin) and I had our first son. Prior to the birth, my girlfriend was on her mom's insurance through Aetna. Before the baby came, Kaitlin had her mom call Aetna to remove her from the insurance so that she (Kaitlin) could receive medicaid for all the hospital bills. Months after the baby was born she started getting bills in the mail from multiple doctors' offices showing unpaid bills. When she called the medicaid, they told her she was denied because she was covered by a different insurance. They also told her that social services had made a mistake, and overlooked the fact that she already had an insurance when they approved her. Now we come to find out that Aetna never took her off of her mom's insurance when her mom had called. Is my girlfriend Liable for these bills ?

Please help she is very stressed about this. Thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Scott!

If your girlfriend has bills and was covered under Aetna, then send the bills to Aetna and they should pay.

Medicaid denied due to no coverage but Aetna should pay.

On the bills she is receiving, write on them the information regarding the Aetna policy and perhaps a copy of her insurance card and ask them to bill Aetna directly.

Hopefully Aetna will pay.  If not, she will be liable.

Good Luck!
