Question
I live in Pennsylvania and had planned on retiring at 55 (two years from now. I would need to purchase my own Health Care Insurance upon retirement. I was recently diagnosed with and am going through treatment for breast cancer. Will I still be able to find reasonable health care insurance given my cancer diagnosis? I had always mentally allowed for approximately $500 monthly for insurance. What can I expect to pay now? I also have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Thank You so much for any answers.
Answer
I am so sorry for the news about your health.
You may find it nearly impossible to get insurance right now but perhaps your state has laws that may get you covered. Who knows what will happen with health care reform and hopefully, you will be able to get coverage with a pre-existing coverage. There is nothing that I could tell you now that would be helpful to you in two years. My best to you for a good recovery.
