Primary insurance Plus Medicaid

Question
I was denied service at my OB office because I have a primary insurance and Medicaid.  My OB does not except Medicaid and told me it was fraudulent to bill just my primary insurance and not Medicaid as well.  So I was wondering if that is true?

Answer
The doctor does not accept you as a Medicaid patient and can just bill your primary insurance. You will though be responsible for the balance of the bill that your insurance company does not pay. I have never heard that it would be fraudulent just to bill the primary as he is not accept Medicaid patients. He should have you sign a waiver that you would be responsible for the balance of the bill that your primary does not pay and that he is not accepting you as a Medicaid patient.
