Question
My parents live in northern Ohio and currently have AARP/MedicareComplete from Secure Horizons, Plan 2. They are not happy with this plan at all and the choices it gives them. It is very confusing for them and they have asked me to help them. I guess I have a couple of questions:
1)Is there re enrollment periods that they can switch plans?
2)Is there anything out there that compares plans for seniors to help them make their decisions?
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cindy
Answer
Hi Cindy
You could not have asked at a better time. The open enrollment period is now until New Years eve. Call 1-800-686-1578 and you will reach the nearest SHIP office to you. Call them and ask to apeak with a counselor for an appointment to do a benefits check up, and also a plan comparison on the computer. They will come up what the three or more best options and ma and pa can pick their choice, Just what you are looking for. Your parents should have received a copy of MEDICARE AND YOU 2010, which has much of the information you want. If not you can get a copy at the Social Security Office..
When they meet with the counselor, they will need a list of all their prescriptions, dosage, and how often used.
Hope this helps.
