Question
I have United Health Care PPO insurance through my husbands work and have been approved for SSDI and offered Medicare B at a premium. Am I wasting money paying a premium for Medicare B if I already have primary care insurance, OR, will Medicare B serve as a supplemental coverage for doctors, medical services and labs etc that UHC does not pay. Will this cause a problem with UHC coverage if I keep it?
Answer
All of this depends on how many employees your company has. You cannot have Medicare Part B until you have been on SSDI unless you have certain conditions. You do not determine which is primary and which is secondary. You need to talk to HR and find out what your status will be.
